Overview

Montford Park is a mid-century-inspired mixed-use development near the heart of Charlotte, NC’s thriving business and cultural center. This project offers affordable residential access for young professionals and families, retaining the architectural charm of the neighborhood’s original 1950s and 1960s mid-century design. The complete design team aimed to preserve and enhance this aesthetic in their development, blending mid-century modern with Southern California casual sophistication.

Approach

Ironwood Design Group, a renowned Landscape Architect, has played a pivotal role in the meticulous planning of hardscape and landscape elements. Their expertise has ensured a seamless integration with the project’s architectural vision, elevating the overall quality of the development. The project features 336 residential units, 17,000 square feet of retail space, and an expansive 12,000 square feet of amenity areas surrounding a central courtyard, redefining contemporary urban living.

The central courtyard, a vibrant hub of relaxation and social interaction, is a standout feature of Montford Park. It features a resort-style pool, perfect for unwinding on a hot day, and a fire pit lounge, inviting residents to gather and socialize in a serene and welcoming environment. The courtyard also houses six levels of parking, discreetly accommodating residents’ vehicles and maintaining the development’s sleek design, a testament to its spatial efficiency.

The landscape design incorporates native plantings and sustainable practices, creating a harmonious blend of natural beauty and urban functionality.
