Icon Buckhead

Overview

Icon Buckhead, a high-rise residential tower in Buckhead, Atlanta, sought to infuse its new development with clean and elegant sophistication. Having successfully designed the outdoor spaces for Icon Midtown, Ironwood Design Group was the natural choice for this prestigious project. Debuting in 2019, Icon Buckhead stands as the tallest residential tower in the neighborhood, securing its place in Buckhead’s luxury real estate market.

Approach

Ironwood Design Group brought their unique design approach to Icon Buckhead, highlighting the building’s dramatic axial geometries and creating a welcoming, intimate space amid the high-rise district. The outdoor decks, featuring angular paving stones and contemporary cutouts in the low dividing walls, are a testament to this. This design approach perfectly complements the tower’s unique position along Peachtree Street.

In the heart of Buckhead, Icon Buckhead offers a luxurious living experience. The rooftop deck, known as the Cloud Lounge, provides stunning city views from personal cabanas cantilevered over the edge. The beach-entry pool, surrounded by low-slung chaise lounges and dwarf blue spruce trees and pink muhly grass, creates a serene oasis. An alfresco dining area with lounge seating, a fireplace, and festive balloon lighting adds to the luxurious atmosphere.

On the 8th floor, Ironwood designed an elegant spa area with dividing walls and softwood features, transitioning seamlessly between indoor and outdoor spaces for privacy and relaxation. The 8th-floor pool features a sun shelf with sunken chaise lounges, while the grilling area, decked in sophisticated hardwood, offers a clean, welcoming environment.

The museum-worthy art collection is a standout feature, including the installation of a striking mural by Atlanta artist Deanna Sirlin above the entry motor court. Framed in white stone against a vibrant green wall, the mural adds a refreshing burst of color and art to the building’s facade.

“We’re setting a new standard for modern design in Atlanta. By employing a mix of materials, adding contemporary accents, and a warm, inviting palette, we balanced the building’s clean sophistication and angular geometry with bright, human-centered spaces for residents and their guests to enjoy for years to come.” – Erik Jarkins
