sAM SAMPSON
Founding Principal, PLA, LEED AP

From a young age, Sam exhibited a passion for the outdoors, and a natural curiosity about plants. He worked his way through school doing landscape installation, where he learned firsthand the nuts and bolts of transforming landscape design into reality. He earned his B.S.  in Horticulture Science from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

Sam’s first job out of college was as an installation crew supervisor for a landscape company, where he honed his knowledge of plants and the principles of landscape design. Sam’s keen eye for detail and encyclopedic knowledge of the natural landscape drew him from project management into landscape architecture design. In 2014, Sam and Erik partnered to create Ironwood Design Group, where Sam oversees day-to-day business operations, master planning, landscape design, and construction management.

Sam lives in Milton, Georgia, with his wife and five children. He loves fly fishing, camping, hiking, and golfing, and relaxes by working on his own home garden.
