Designs in Harmony with the World Beyond

Landscape architects work with living material – but that doesn’t mean every green design is truly “green.” At Ironwood Design Group, sustainability is core to our principles of design. We value low-impact environments and always create solutions with a conservation mindset.

Our landscapes are crafted to reduce waste and pollution, sequester carbon emissions and conserve water, prevent erosion and protect soil quality. Where possible, we source our materials locally and emphasize the use of native regional plants, which are well-adapted to the climate and require less intensive care.

We’re proud to have led the Southeast in green building and landscape design: Ironwood has worked on several LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) projects, including the first gold-certified LEED project in the Southeast.

Rather than degrade the surrounding environment with water-costly designs, we believe landscape architecture can be a significant player in protecting the natural environment. We’re committed to the principles of resilient design – working with nature rather than in opposition to it – to ensure that our green spaces complement and support the existing environment and ecology. Humans have lived in a delicate balance with nature for many thousands of years; at Ironwood, we craft human-centered spaces that live gently on the land and coexist peacefully with the wild world beyond.
